Now a Mother's Day weekend tradition, Dunbarton Arts on the Common is a juried festival of fine art and craft located in historic Dunbarton, N.H. Originator Patricia Dooley Murphy organized the festival (previously known as Dunbarton Arts and Gardens) in 2005, and moved it last year onto the scenic town common to accommodate an ever-growing population of fine artisans and craftspeople. Sixty tent sites, a craft beer-tasting tent, several food vendors and a line-up of musicians and entertainers attract art and craft enthusiasts from far and wide. The Dunbarton Town Common is highly visible, located on the heavily travelled Route 13, part of the General John Stark Scenic Byway. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Dunbarton Town Hall and Theatre Restoration Project, a 501(c)(3) governed by a Board of Trustees, which seeks to restore the historic Dunbarton Town Hall to its original purpose as a meeting place serving the entire community of Dunbarton.
